What is elevator 3D software? Applications in the elevator industry

Elevator 3D software is a general term for tools that use three-dimensional models to design, simulate, render or present parts of an elevator system. These tools do very different jobs, so a company needs to know which group it needs before it chooses.

Three groups of 3D software in the elevator industry

Engineering design and structural software

This group is for engineers who design, build and check technical components. CAD and engineering modelling software such as SOLIDWORKS, AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor can be used to produce drawings, build detailed models and support mechanical design. The aim is accuracy in component specifications and in manufacturing and installation requirements.

Modelling and 3D visualization software

This group produces three-dimensional images of a product, a space or individual parts. Viewers examine shape, proportion and detail from several angles. For a cabin, a 3D model shows how the walls, ceiling, floor, glass, lighting and finishing details sit together.

Online cabin presentation and customization tools

This group is for customers and sales staff, not engineers. Instead of looking at photos or a catalogue, the user handles a 3D cabin model on a website: rotating the view, zooming into details, and trying colour and material combinations from the options the company has configured. It matters most to manufacturers, distributors and installers who need to present products online.

What each group produces

Choose by the job you need done, not by whether the software can display a 3D model. The first two groups and the third can share one source of 3D data, but they do not replace each other. A detailed comparison is in How does elevator design software differ from 3D cabin presentation software?.

What 3D does for an elevator business

A cabin has many parts and materials. A 3D model gives viewers the whole picture instead of separate detail photos. When customers can view and handle the model, sales staff have another tool for explaining the design and the options. If the model supports customization, customers change the colour, material or floor pattern and see the difference at once. The model can also be embedded in a website, so buyers can look at a product without visiting a showroom.

Where Liftmira fits

Liftmira belongs to the third group. It is a Comnosoft product. Liftmira builds digital experiences for elevator manufacturers' and dealers' websites, so buyers can configure and walk through their exact cabin before they sign. Liftmira is not used to produce engineering drawings or calculate structures. Details are in What is Liftmira?, and you can try the demo.

Conclusion

3D software in the elevator industry covers engineering design, visualization and online presentation. A company defines the job first, then picks the group of tools.
